Prosecutors of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office have sent an indictment to the court against the organizer and five participants of a criminal group that illegally produced counterfeit coffee. They sold it under the guise of products from global brands.
The investigation revealed that the perpetrators had no contracts, licenses, or permits to use these brands. Despite this, they established large-scale production in warehouse facilities in the Kyiv region. The coffee was sold online, in retail outlets, and even at local markets.
During the searches, equipment for the production and packaging of coffee, printing equipment, a batch of finished products, vehicles, cash, computers, mobile phones, and documentation with rough notes were seized.
The organizer and his accomplices have been notified of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 229 (illegal use of a trademark) and Parts 1 and 2 of Article 209 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (legalization of property obtained by criminal means). The seized property has been placed under arrest, and the prosecutor's office has initiated the transfer of six seized vehicles worth about 4 million UAH for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The procedural guidance was carried out by prosecutors of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, and the investigation was conducted by detectives of the Bureau of Economic Security with operational support from the Cyber Police.
