The prosecutor's office declared suspicion of the FSB representative of the Russian Federation, who tortured civilians of the Kherson region

An employee of the illegally established "FSB of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol" in occupied Crimea has been notified in absentia of suspicion of cruel treatment of civilians and other violations of the laws and customs of war (part 2 of Article 28, part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The pre-trial investigation established that in March 2022, while in the occupied Genichesk of the Kherson region, he, in collusion with other military personnel of the armed forces of the Russian Federation, unlawfully detained a peaceful resident. The civilian was stopped at a checkpoint and taken to a place of detention that was set up in the basement of a seized educational institution.

The suspect directly conducted interrogations involving beatings and issued orders for torture: the man was beaten, his fingers were simulated to be cut off, and his knee joints were injured. Later, he was threatened with execution and being buried alive. The victim was held without food and water, as well as in an unsuitable room – without furniture, light, and access to a toilet.

Under the procedural guidance of the Kherson Regional and Genichesk District Prosecutor's Offices, the pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings is being conducted by investigators of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Kherson region.
