The prosecutor's office brought to court the case of an employee of a colony from Cherkasy region who tried to sell drugs to prisoners

Prosecutors of the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor's Office have submitted an indictment to the court against an employee of one of the correctional colonies in the region, who decided to "earn" by selling drugs to inmates.
The pre-trial investigation established that the employee of the State Criminal-Executive Service of Ukraine in Cherkasy region illegally acquired the narcotic substance methadone, which he brought onto the territory of the colony.
In May 2025, during a search of personal belongings, he was exposed by another employee of the colony.
The accused is charged with the acquisition, transportation, and storage of narcotic substances for the purpose of sale in places of deprivation of liberty, as well as an attempt to sell narcotic substances in places of deprivation of liberty (part 3 of article 15, part 2 of article 307, part 2 of article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings was conducted by investigators of the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigation located in Kyiv, with operational support from the Security Service of Ukraine in the Cherkasy region.
Note: according to article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
