The prosecutor's office returned over 6 million hryvnias owed to Cherkasy for renting land for high-rise buildings
25.11.2025
The Economic Court of Cherkasy Region fully satisfied the prosecutor's claim and recovered 6.3 million UAH in unpaid rent for municipal land from the developer.
This concerns a plot of land measuring 0.5 hectares on Heroes of Dnipro Street, which was acquired by one of the Cherkasy companies at a land auction in 2022 for the construction of a residential complex. According to the lease agreement, the developer was to pay the city 3.5 million UAH annually.
Instead, the company built a transformer substation and a security booth on the plot, and then sold this property to an affiliated firm that was knowingly insolvent. This scheme allowed them to avoid paying rent for the land while continuing to build and sell apartments in future high-rise buildings.
Thanks to the evidence provided by the prosecutor's office, the court declared the sale agreement for the substation and the security booth invalid, recovered 6.3 million UAH in debt from the developer for the benefit of the city budget, canceled the sublease rights for the affiliated company, and also imposed a freeze on the debtor's accounts and property to ensure the actual enforcement of the decision.
Currently, the court's decision has come into effect, and the funds are expected to be transferred to the city budget.
It is worth noting that this case gained significant public resonance following the publication of journalistic investigations in the media. The Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor's Office filed a corresponding lawsuit with the court.
