The prosecutor's office returned 24 hectares of forest illegally cleared for the Medvedchuk family to the state

The Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv Oblast has returned 24 hectares of forest in the Obukhiv district of Kyiv region to state ownership, which were illegally removed from state ownership for the family of former people's deputy-traitor Viktor Medvedchuk, who is currently in the Russian Federation.

This concerns forest lands located within the administrative boundaries of the Ukrainian city council of the Obukhiv district.

According to information from open sources, the mentioned land plots are registered to a company, the ultimate beneficial owner of which is the wife of the ex-deputy-traitor, who is under sanctions.

In 2004, when Medvedchuk headed the Administration of the former President of Ukraine, the forest plot was illegally transferred to his private ownership. This occurred in violation of land and forest legislation - based on orders from the Kyiv Oblast and Obukhiv District State Administrations, exceeding authority and in a manner explicitly prohibited by law.

In particular, forest fund lands were removed from state ownership and their intended purpose was changed without the mandatory decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, which is a gross violation of current legislation.

In the interests of the state, represented by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the Kyiv Oblast Prosecutor's Office filed a lawsuit in court to reclaim the land plot from illegal possession.

By the decision of the Economic Court of Kyiv on July 18, 2024, the prosecutor's claim was granted. The appellate court upheld this decision.

In execution of the court decision, on January 26, 2026, the state registrar entered the relevant information into the State Register of Property Rights, registering ownership of the land plot in favor of the state.

The Prosecutor's Office continues its systematic work to return lands and property that have been illegally removed from state ownership, including forest resources that have strategic and ecological significance for Ukraine.

It should be noted that in August 2025, under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv Oblast Prosecutor's Office, Viktor Medvedchuk and 12 of his accomplices were notified of suspicion of committing a number of crimes against the foundations of national security of Ukraine.

According to the investigation, the suspects organized large-scale information-subversive activities against Ukraine. They created a media project to disseminate Kremlin narratives, justify the armed aggression of the Russian Federation, call for changes to the state border of Ukraine, incite national and religious enmity, as well as other propaganda in support of the aggressor state.

Their actions have been qualified under Part 3 of Article 436-2, Part 3 of Article 109, Part 3 of Article 161, Part 2 of Article 111, and Part 6 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
