The prosecutor's office directed an indictment against a captive serviceman of the Russian Federation, who shot two Ukrainian prisoners of war in Toretsk

Prosecutors of the Office of the Prosecutor General accuse a serviceman from the aggressor state, who is in captivity, of committing a war crime (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, in September 2024, in the city of Toretsk, Donetsk region, during a combat clash with the enemy, two servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were captured. Since then, they have acquired the status of prisoners of war under the Geneva Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners of War and the corresponding guarantees.

Despite this, after "communicating" with the Ukrainian prisoners of war, executing a criminal order from the unit commander, the accused shot two Ukrainian prisoners of war from the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The accused committed a war crime combined with intentional murder, violating the norms of international law.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the Main Investigative Department of the Security Service of Ukraine.
