The Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office has sent an indictment to the court regarding the head of the education, youth, and sports department of one of the village councils in the Romny district of the Sumy region, whose abuse of office through document forgery caused nearly 2 million UAH in damages to state interests (Part 2 of Article 364 and Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The investigation established that in 2021, the official entered into a contract with a limited liability company for the capital repair of a sports area, including the installation of outdoor exercise equipment and workout elements on the territory of one of the educational institutions in Romny.
Despite the fact that after the completion of the repairs, the director of the company submitted knowingly false information in the official documentation regarding the volume of work performed and the cost of materials used, the head of the department signed it.
According to the expert conclusion, as a result of the abuse of office by the official, the director of the company unlawfully obtained budget funds amounting to 1 million 983 thousand UAH.
An indictment has been sent to the court against the director of the limited liability company for the fact of unlawfully obtaining budget funds in particularly large amounts (Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The pre-trial investigation has been completed by the investigators of the Romny district police department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Sumy region in cooperation with the Security Service of Ukraine, the State Bureau of Investigation, and the Romny District Prosecutor's Office.
Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
