The Prosecutor's Office and the State Criminal Investigation Department are investigating a road accident in Kharkiv involving a judge that injured two children

Under the procedural guidance of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial investigation has been initiated into a traffic accident that occurred in Kharkiv and resulted in serious injuries to two minor girls.
According to the investigation, on December 18, 2025, at approximately 15:50, the driver of a Hyundai Accent, who holds the position of a judge in one of the district courts, while driving on a city street, hit two pedestrians.
It has been established that as she approached an unregulated pedestrian crossing, marked by the appropriate road sign, the driver did not reduce her speed and failed to yield to the pedestrians crossing the roadway.
As a result of the accident, two girls aged 13 and 14 were injured. They were hospitalized with serious bodily injuries. Currently, the victims are in the intensive care unit.
The criminal proceedings are being investigated under part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – violation of traffic safety rules by a person operating a vehicle, which caused serious bodily injuries to the victims
Procedural actions are being carried out aimed at fully and impartially clarifying all circumstances of the accident.
A notice of suspicion is currently being prepared.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. It is being conducted by the second investigative department (located in the city of Kharkiv) of the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigations, based in the city of Poltava.
Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
