The prosecutor's office demands the return to the state of 14 hectares with a monument of national importance

The Economic Court of Kyiv Region has opened proceedings on the lawsuit of the Bila Tserkva District Prosecutor's Office regarding the return of a 14-hectare land plot to the state, on which the archaeological monument of national significance – the settlement of the chronicle city of Torchesk – is located.

In December 2023, in violation of the provisions of the Land Code, the decision of the state registrar unjustifiably re-registered the land plot from state ownership to communal ownership. Such actions violate the requirements of Article 84 of the Land Code of Ukraine, which prohibits the transfer of lands of historical and cultural significance into communal ownership.

The prosecutor's office has appealed to the court demanding the annulment of the illegal registration and the return of the plot to state ownership.

The Torchesk settlement is one of the oldest monuments of the Middle Porossia. The first mention of the city dates back to 1093. In 2001, it was included in the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Ukraine.
