The case of the murder of a small boy by his mother's partner was heard in the Tatarbunary District Court.

“In such cases, the position of the prosecution is unequivocal. The person guilty of the intentional deprivation of a child's life should serve a life sentence,” said Andriy Svatok, the head of the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office, today.

On Thursday, December 11, the court sentenced the man to 15 years of imprisonment.

He was found guilty of the intentional murder of a 3-year-old boy in one of the villages of the Bolhrad district. In February of this year, the 19-year-old partner of the mother stayed home with her little son.

Due to feeling unwell, the boy began to cry and could not calm down. This enraged the man, so he began to brutally beat the child with his fists in the stomach. He continued to hit the boy on the head and body until the little one lost consciousness and stopped moving.

The little boy died in the hospital from acute blood loss.

According to the examination, the inhuman perpetrator inflicted at least 20 blows to the child.

The prosecutors disagree with the imposed sentence, as it does not correspond to the severity of the committed crime, the character of the accused, who has not offered any apologies to the family of the deceased and only partially admits his guilt.

Currently, the prosecutors are preparing an appeal against the district court's verdict.

At the request of the prosecution, the accused is in custody.
