The Khmelnytskyi Prosecutor's Office returns to the community's property part of the monument of national importance Jewish necropolis

By the lawsuit of the Letichiv District Prosecutor's Office in the interests of the state, the court declared the decision of the executive committee invalid and canceled the state registration of the private ownership rights to the building of the burial site, which contains the graves of the founder of Hasidism and his disciples. The court also ordered the return of the monument to the communal property of the Medzhybizh Village Council.

The basis for the prosecutor's response was the illegal transfer of the burial site by the executive committee of the village council into private ownership of a foreigner.

Currently, the court's decision has come into legal force, the private ownership rights to the burial building have been canceled, and measures are being taken to register the ownership rights to the monument for the Medzhybizh Village Council.

Baal Shem Tov (1698-1760) was a spiritual leader and the founder of Hasidism. Medzhybizh was his last place of residence, where he spent about 20 years.
