Vinnytsia prosecutors, within their representative powers, have protected the architectural monument of the late 18th century — the Chatsky Palace in the village of Serebrynka of the Vendychany community.
Since the 1990s, the ownership rights to the real estate object have not been formalized by either the former village council or its successor — the current settlement council — despite the fact that the palace is a monument of architecture and is under state protection.
At various times, the palace building has been used as administrative premises for government authorities. Today, it houses the administration of the Serebrynka elder's district and a municipal library.
In early 2025, the Mohyliv-Podilskyi District Prosecutor's Office filed a lawsuit in court for the transfer of the palace to communal ownership. The court granted the request, and by March, the prosecutors ensured the execution of the court decision — information about the communal ownership rights to the palace was entered into the State Register of Property Rights. Work is ongoing to conclude a protective agreement with the authorized body for cultural heritage regarding the object and to develop a plan for its preservation and restoration.
The palace of the Chacki family was built in the 1770s and 1780s by the Polish nobleman Michał Chacki, who is the brother of Tadeusz Chacki — a well-known Polish educational and cultural figure.
The architects constructed the building in the then-popular neoclassical style that was widespread throughout Europe. They also incorporated features characteristic of the Ukrainian national style. The facade of the two-story building with a high basement is adorned with four columns of the Corinthian order. The interior decoration still retains elements of stucco that resemble marble. The park surrounding the palace has not survived to this day.
The residents of the community, united in the organization "Serebrychanka," are initiating various efforts to attract resources for the preservation of the monument.
