The Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Defense Sector of the Eastern Region has ensured the enforcement of a court decision to recover funds from one of the suppliers of lubricants in favor of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine in the amount of over 1.2 million UAH.

In October 2023, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine entered into two contracts with a private company for the supply of lubricants. The total amount of the contracts included value-added tax, although during martial law such operations are subject to taxation at a zero rate according to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 178.

As a result, funds in the amount of over 1.2 million UAH were unlawfully paid from the state budget for the supplied goods, contrary to the requirements of the aforementioned resolution.

In 2024, the prosecutor filed a lawsuit with the Economic Court of the Dnipropetrovsk Region in the interests of the state represented by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine for the return of unjustly paid funds.

The court granted the prosecutor's claim and recovered funds from the defendant in the amount of 1,184,018.60 UAH.

Thanks to the principled position of the prosecutor, violations of budget legislation have been eliminated, and the inflow of funds to the state budget has been ensured.
