The Prosecutor's Office of Zaporozhye will insist on life imprisonment for the rape of a child

The head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Prosecutor's Office, as the senior prosecutor of the group, has sent an indictment to the court against a 47-year-old man who raped a minor girl over several years.

According to the investigation, the man was the cohabitant of the victim's mother. The accused first raped the child when she was seven years old, taking advantage of her vulnerability. By systematically raping the girl, he intimidated her, saying that no one would believe her testimony. 

The girl's mother was unaware of the violence perpetrated by her partner. 

The accused is charged with multiple rapes and sexual violence against a child (Part 4 of Article 152, Part 2 of Article 15, Part 6 of Article 152, Part 6 of Article 152, Part 6 of Article 153 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). 

Currently, the victim lives with her mother. 

Investigative actions involving the child in the criminal proceedings were conducted in compliance with all requirements of legislation on child-friendly justice to prevent re-traumatization.  

The accused is in custody without the right to bail.

He faces the maximum penalty – life imprisonment.

The pre-trial investigation was carried out by investigators of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police in the Zaporizhzhia region, and the investigative unit of the Zaporizhzhia District Police Department of the National Police in the Zaporizhzhia region.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime until their guilt is proven in the manner prescribed by law and confirmed by a guilty verdict of the court.
