Bukovina prosecutors identified four accomplices who smuggled the men to Romania

In Bukovina, four accomplices have been identified and apprehended for organizing the illegal transportation of conscription-age men across the state border into Romania.

In the summer of 2025, border guards uncovered a group of seven men aged 23 to 29 near the Ukrainian-Romanian border in the Chernivtsi region, who were attempting to cross the state border outside of official checkpoints.

Only men were present at the scene. Those who organized this crossing had disappeared.

However, law enforcement managed to identify all the organizers of the scheme.

These are four local residents. Two of them are from the border area, who were well-acquainted with the terrain and acted as guides, accompanying groups through forest and field areas to the state border line.

The other two ensured the operation of the scheme: they sought out those willing to illegally leave the territory of Ukraine, coordinated the actions of participants, and organized logistics. Those arriving from other regions were provided with temporary accommodation and transport from Chernivtsi to the town of Krasnoyilsk.

The cost of the "service" was 10,000 euros per person.

Currently, all four have been notified of suspicion for the illegal transportation of individuals across the state border of Ukraine, committed by a group of individuals with prior conspiracy for mercenary motives (Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Operational support in the pre-trial investigation is provided by the 31st Border Detachment.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
