Dnipro prosecutors exposed doctors on a bribe of almost $ 9,000 for fictitious diagnoses to men to assign a disability group

A suspicion has been reported against the head of the psychiatric department and three doctors of medical institutions in Dnipro for receiving illegal benefits combined with extortion, by a group of individuals in prior conspiracy (Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, the suspects organized a scheme of "assistance" for men who wanted to avoid mobilization. The suspects provided the fabrication of medical documents with fictitious diagnoses. Based on these, the "patient" was to receive an official conclusion from the medical commission about unfitness for military service due to disability, with removal from military registration and the possibility of unhindered travel abroad.

In addition, the medical professionals arranged a fictitious hospitalization for the "patient" so that he could undergo all necessary examinations.

The cost of the "service" was estimated at nearly 9 thousand US dollars.

Law enforcement officers recorded instances of the suspects receiving part of the "reward" in the amounts of 2000 and 3000 US dollars. Two doctors were detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

During searches at the residences and workplaces of the suspects, documentation, mobile phones, computer equipment, bank cards, cars, and cash in various currencies totaling 100 thousand US dollars were seized.

Currently, the issue of choosing preventive measures in the form of detention for the individuals involved is being resolved.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Dnipro District Police Department No. 2 of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Dnipropetrovsk region, with operational support from the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police of Ukraine, under the procedural guidance of the Left Bank District Prosecutor's Office of the city of Dnipro.
