In Lviv region, the person's threats were sentenced to real sentence

Under the public prosecution of the prosecutors of the Drohobych District Prosecutor's Office, the court sentenced a 46-year-old resident of Lviv region to real punishment in the form of 1 year of imprisonment for obstructing the lawful professional activities of a journalist and threatening him with violence (part 2 of Article 171 and part 1 of Article 345-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

In court, prosecutors proved that in 2021, the accused – the brother of a patrol police officer – threatened a journalist from the publication "Choice – Human Rights Defender of Lviv Region." The media worker was carrying out an editorial task, gathering information on the compliance of police officers with legislative requirements during patrols in the Drohobych district. The convicted individual demanded that this activity cease, openly intimidating the journalist with beatings and murder.

In addition to imprisonment, the court, based on the arguments of the prosecution, imposed a fine of 3,400 UAH and ordered the accused to pay 55,000 UAH in material damages and 200,000 UAH in moral damages to the victim.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv region.
