Prosecutors sent to court the case of an employee of the RTCC and SP, who beat the Mariupol defender

It has been established that employees of the Odesa RTC and SP, while performing their official duties, stopped a man for checking military registration documents.

During the check, a conflict arose between the men, during which the employee of the agency struck the victim with his fists. As a result of the illegal actions of the accused, the military sustained minor bodily injuries – abrasions, bruises, and hematomas, which were confirmed by the conclusion of the forensic medical examination.

The victim is a serviceman of the 36th Separate Marine Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In Odesa, the man was undergoing rehabilitation after being released from enemy captivity.

Prosecutors of the Odesa Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Defense Sector of the Southern Region have sent an indictment to the court for substantive consideration. The employee of the RTC and SP in Odesa is charged with intentionally causing minor bodily injuries to a serviceman (Part 1 of Article 125 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Odesa region.

The prosecution emphasizes: any manifestations of violence by officials are unacceptable and will receive a principled legal assessment.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
