Prosecutors of Odeschyna have achieved 7 years of imprisonment for OCG participants who, under the guise of law enforcement officers and employees of the Tax Code and JV, demanded money from Odessa money
27.06.2025
Under the public prosecution of the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office, the court found the organizer and three participants of the group guilty of extortion and unlawful appropriation of power (Part 4 of Article 189, Part 2 of Article 353 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
For the totality of crimes, each of them was sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Prosecutors proved that the convicted individuals posed as police officers and representatives of the Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support. They tracked men of conscription age, checked their documents, and, threatening forced delivery to the Territorial Center, demanded money "for resolving the issue."
In several episodes, the criminals received over 80,000 UAH and 3,000 USD from the victims. After the money was handed over, they assured citizens that they would enter their data into the "Oberih" database, which supposedly "guaranteed" avoidance of problems with mobilization.
They were detained in November 2024 during another attempt at extortion. The group included individuals with criminal backgrounds, among them a former law enforcement officer who had already had legal issues.
All four awaited sentencing in custody and fully admitted their guilt in court.
The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police in the Odesa region, with operational support from the Odesa Department of the National Police's Department of Internal Security.
