Prosecutors reported suspicion to four military unit officers who organized a fictitious service of "dead souls", which caused losses to the state for UAH 7.7 million

Prosecutors of the Odesa Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Defense Sector of the Southern Region reported suspicions against the former commander of a separate battalion of electronic warfare, his deputy, the deputy commander of the logistics unit, and the commander of the company.

According to the investigation, they were arranging fictitious conscriptions of citizens and receiving payments and other provisions for them. For 60 fictitious servicemen, the officers unjustifiably accrued over 7.7 million UAH of budget funds, and they sold the excess food supplies.

The suspects are charged under part 4 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, namely - misappropriation of someone else's property by abuse of office, committed repeatedly, by prior conspiracy of a group of persons, in large amounts, under conditions of martial law.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
