Prosecutors reported the suspicion of the Exectors of the Makiiv colony and his successor for the ill -treatment of prisoners

Prosecutors established that in July 2019, the Makiyivka correctional colony, which had been seized in 2014 by armed representatives of the illegal armed group "DPR" and turned into one of the "torture chambers," was headed by a resident of Amvrosiivka. Upon taking office, the suspect arranged a separate wing with so-called barracks, where civilians with pro-Ukrainian positions were delivered under false accusations.

The convicted individuals were held in horrific conditions in cells with 50-60 people. The premises were heated at the expense of the relatives of the detained individuals, who purchased coal and firewood for this purpose. Due to a lack of technical water, people could not adhere to basic hygiene rules.

By November of that same year, the administration of the institution changed. The new head was a former employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, who collaborated with the enemy. Since then, the conditions of detention for the convicted individuals significantly worsened.

He treated the prisoners cruelly and stated the necessity of killing Ukrainians. Some prisoners were placed in so-called pits. In these small rooms with concrete floors, they were forced to stand all day and were forbidden to sit down. The citizens were fed inedible products, including porridge covered with lard, chicken bones, overcooked rotten fish, and worms. Sometimes even such portions were insufficient for the entire "contingent."

The actions of the suspects have been classified as a war crime (Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The prosecutorial guidance is provided by the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office. The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Donetsk region.
