Prosecutors sent the indictment to the court against the People's Deputy of Ukraine of the 2nd convocation for high treason and fraud in particularly large amounts
03.11.2025
Under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General, an indictment has been sent to court regarding a member of the Ukrainian parliament. He is charged with treason, collaborative activities, and the acquisition of someone else's property through deception in particularly large amounts, committed as part of a group of individuals (Part 1 of Article 111 (as amended by the Law of Ukraine dated 07.10.2014 No. 1689-VII), Part 2 of Article 111, Part 4 of Article 190 (as amended by the Law of Ukraine dated 22.11.2018 No. 2617-VIII) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the member of parliament systematically disseminated information through social networks that aligned with the propaganda narratives of the Russian Federation. This information was aimed at discrediting the state authorities of Ukraine, international partners, and the processes of European integration. Such actions contributed to the destabilization of the situation within the country.
Furthermore, the accused, using his personal contacts with representatives of the political leadership of the Republic of Belarus, organized the conclusion of a contract for the supply of mineral fertilizers between two business entities. Subsequently, he provided the suppliers with false information about the alleged refusal of the Belarusian railway to transport the products.
In this way, he created an artificial obstacle to the fulfillment of the contract conditions and proposed to "resolve the issue" by imposing the conclusion of a contract for legal services with a private entrepreneur—his own son. From December 2021 to February 2022, 14.5 million UAH was transferred to his account for services that were not actually provided. Thus, the member of parliament unlawfully acquired funds in particularly large amounts through deception.
The defense has completed its review of the materials of the pre-trial investigation. The indictment has been approved by the prosecutor and sent to court for substantive consideration.
The accused faces a penalty of life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the Main Investigative Department of the State Bureau of Investigation with operational support from the Security Service of Ukraine.
Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
