Prosecutors exposed two residents of Odessa region who at the request of the special service of the Russian Federation were arson and suggested to arrange a sabotage

Two citizens have been informed of suspicion of treason (part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Representatives of the Russian special services remotely recruited a resident of Odesa region to carry out arson of transformer booths and vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Since the man is a violator of military registration rules and is wanted, he involved his cohabitant in the illegal activities, who drove him in her own car to the crime scenes.

However, this was not enough for them, so the suspect offered his curator from Russia, for a corresponding reward, to eliminate one of the local council deputies and to carry out a sabotage with a cargo of 1500 tons of ammonium nitrate, a vessel with which entered the port area where his cohabitant works as a controller.

Thanks to the operational cooperation of the Office of the Prosecutor General and the Security Service of Ukraine, the illegal activities were stopped, and the suspects were detained.

During the searches, they seized a mobile phone with evidence of criminal activity, combat grenades, and narcotic substances.

Currently, the suspects are in custody.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Main Investigative Department of the Security Service of Ukraine with operational support from the Department of Counterintelligence Protection of State Interests in the Field of Information Security of the Security Service of Ukraine and under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
