Under the procedural guidance of prosecutors from the Kherson Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the defense sector of the Southern region, a chief sergeant of the company has been notified of suspicion for extortion and receiving illegal benefits (Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, in 2025, the suspect repeatedly demanded 90,000 UAH from his subordinate for "resolving issues" regarding disciplinary offenses. In particular, he promised not to hold the serviceman accountable for unauthorized absence from the unit, not to initiate a service investigation, and to ensure the preservation of payments for participation in combat missions.

Under pressure, the subordinate transferred 30,000 UAH to the sergeant's bank card. After that, the serviceman was detained by law enforcement officers in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

By a court ruling, he was chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention with the possibility of posting bail.

The measures to expose the crime were conducted by prosecutors in cooperation with investigators from the Main Investigation Department of the National Police in the Kherson region, with operational support from the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police of Ukraine and the Security Service of Ukraine.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
