Prosecutors defended the monument of archeology of national importance "settlement" in Mykolaiv region

Prosecutors of the Mykolaiv District Prosecutor's Office ensured the enforcement of the court's decision and the conclusion of a protective agreement with the land user for the archaeological monument of national significance – "Horodyshche," located on the southern outskirts of the village of Kozyrka in the Mykolaiv region.

The monument dates back to the end of the 1st century BC - the middle of the 3rd century AD, was part of the agricultural district of ancient Olbia, and includes the remains of defensive structures and residential quarters adorned with frescoes.

The basis for the prosecutor's appeal to the court in this case was the fact of the destruction of the archaeological layer of the monument in April 2021, which went without appropriate response from the authorized bodies for the protection of cultural heritage.

The conclusion of the protective agreement serves as a safeguard against illegal economic activities on the territory of the monument, which could lead to its cluttering and the destruction of the cultural layer. The fulfillment of the conditions of the protective agreement remains under the constant control of the district prosecutor's office.
