Offered conscripts certificates for deregistration - resident of Cherkasy was informed of suspicion

Prosecutors of the Cherkasy District Prosecutor's Office reported suspicion against a resident of the Cherkasy region, who promised military conscripts assistance in evading military service for money.

He is charged with abuse of influence (part 2 of article 369-2).

Investigators established that the suspect met with military conscripts in medical institutions and, for a financial reward, offered to arrange with doctors for the subsequent issuance of a certificate for caring for relatives with disabilities.

With such a certificate, men received the status of caregivers and could be removed from military registration.

The suspect was detained in Cherkasy while handing over part of the illegal benefit amounting to 5 thousand US dollars. The court has already chosen a preventive measure in the form of bail and imposed the relevant obligations provided for by the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

The sanction of the charged article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to eight years with confiscation of property.

Note: according to article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
