14.08.2025
Prosecutors of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, supporting the charges in this case, fully proved the guilt of a 21-year-old Russian serviceman in violating the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder (Part 2 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). He was sentenced to life imprisonment.
As a shooter of the 23rd Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 6th Combined Arms Army of the Russian Armed Forces with the call sign "Dukh," the war criminal participated in combat actions against Ukrainian defenders in Kupiansk.
In October 2024, he was stationed in the village of Petropavlivka, where, together with another Russian soldier, he illegally detained three civilian men who had come to the settlement to save surviving property.
Initially, these men were held with their hands tied in a house, where they were subjected to interrogations. They were trying to "extract" information about the locations of Ukrainian troops. One of the men managed to escape. The other two remained with the Russian soldiers.
On October 8, 2024, the convicted received an order via radio from his immediate commander with the call sign "Gryf," whose identity is currently being established, to kill them. He shot two Ukrainian civilians with an AK-74 assault rifle in the house.
Subsequently, the occupier was captured by the Defense Forces.
During the court proceedings, the convicted admitted his guilt.
The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the Investigative Department of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region under the procedural guidance of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.
