Prosecutors of the Zhytomyr Regional Prosecutor's Office and district prosecutors, in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies, uncovered and notified 13 individuals of suspicion. The total amount of damages caused exceeds 81 million UAH.

Budget Funds

-       Officials of the municipal enterprise and limited liability company, while performing repair work for the improvement of the city, misappropriated budget funds amounting to 170 thousand UAH.

-       During the repairs for the replacement of boiler equipment at the Andrushivka Lyceum, officials of a private enterprise misappropriated budget funds amounting to over 700 thousand UAH.

-       The limited liability company constructed protective structures for civil protection with the placement of outpatient clinic premises in the Zhytomyr district. Officials of the company embezzled 500 thousand UAH.

Ecology

-       The director and co-founder of a private company established and implemented an illegal scheme for sand extraction from a deposit in the territory of the Kharitonivka community. Damages – 68 million UAH.

-       A private entrepreneur extracted sand on agricultural land within the Radomyshl community, causing damages of 3 million UAH.

-       A resident of the Korosten district illegally cut down 33 alder trees in the local landscape reserve "Benzyukove," causing damages of 3.4 million UAH.

-       The organizer of an illegal scheme for the extraction of sandstone from a local deposit. Damages – 1.6 million UAH.

Fraud

-       An entrepreneur used electricity as a household consumer for non-household needs, causing damages to JSC "Zhytomyroblenergo" of 1 million UAH.

-       Illegal actions that led to the appropriation of real estate belonging to the state enterprise JSC "Zhytomyr Chemical Fiber Plant." Suspicion was notified to one of the organizers, with damages exceeding 1 million UAH.

-       A resident of the Zhytomyr district fraudulently acquired an apartment in the town of Ozerne worth 408 thousand UAH.

Abuse of Power

-       The director of the district consumer cooperative, abusing his powers, entered into a number of lease agreements for a plot of communal land to obtain illegal benefits. Material damage to the enterprise amounted to 820 thousand UAH.

-       The director of an agricultural company forged lease agreements for 9 plots of land, submitted them to the state registrar, and appropriated lands of the Malyn community covering an area of 43 hectares and valued at 529 thousand UAH.

Depending on the composition of the committed crimes, the suspects are charged under Articles 190, 191, 197-1, 206, 240, 246, 356, 358, 364-1, 366-3, 382 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Currently, prosecutors are preparing motions for the selection of preventive measures.

In addition, suspicion was notified to a former employee of the correctional colony who intentionally failed to submit a declaration upon dismissal to the Unified State Register of Declarations of persons authorized to perform state functions or local self-government (Article 366-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Note: According to Part 1 of Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
