The theft of diesel on more than UAH 1.3 million - 16 participants of two criminal groups will be tried in Poltava region, which included employees of the locomotive depot

The Poltava Regional Prosecutor's Office has sent indictments to the court regarding two organized criminal groups, consisting of 16 individuals: 13 employees of one of the locomotive depots of the regional branch "Southern Railway" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" and 3 of their accomplices.

The members of both groups are charged with misappropriation of someone else's property, committed repeatedly, under martial law, by an organized group (parts 4, 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, employees of the locomotive depot siphoned diesel fuel from the fuel tanks of locomotives into plastic canisters during their shifts and transported it to the residences of their accomplices using vehicles. Subsequently, the fuel was sold to the public at prices lower than market rates.

From December 2024 to April 2025, nearly 36,000 liters of diesel fuel were stolen, causing over 1.3 million UAH in damages to the regional branch "Southern Railway."

During searches at the residences, in garage premises, and vehicles of the men, law enforcement officers seized canisters containing diesel fuel, documents, mobile phones, and other physical evidence.

Investigative actions and operational support in the criminal proceedings are conducted by the Main Directorate of the National Police in Poltava Region.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
