The murder of a 17-year-old girl-the head of the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office reported the detainee of suspicion

On July 23, 2025, a girl did not return home in the evening after a walk. The next day, during search operations in the village of Mykolaivka in the Sumy region, law enforcement officers discovered the body of the missing girl with signs of violent death and injuries characteristic of sexual violence.

Law enforcement quickly established that a 28-year-old resident of Kyiv was involved in the crime. According to preliminary data, the man invited the girl for a walk, during which he took her life. The crime was committed on sexual grounds. The man is currently detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

The head of the Sumy regional prosecutor's office has signed a notice of suspicion against the man for the intentional murder of a 17-year-old girl, combined with rape – paragraph 10 of part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. A motion is being prepared to request the court to impose a preventive measure in the form of detention.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Investigative Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Sumy region. The senior prosecutor of the group is the head of the Sumy regional prosecutor's office, Oleksandr Panchenko.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
