Customs clearance of ATVs at low cost at almost 1 million hryvnias - reported suspicion of the inspector of the State Customs Service

Prosecutors of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office have informed the senior state inspector of the Kyiv Customs of suspicion of abuse of office, which caused serious consequences. His actions have been classified under part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

According to the prosecution's version, the official went to work on his day off to process a customs declaration for the import of a batch of ATVs, which were brought into the customs territory of Ukraine with the involvement of importing companies registered in offshore zones.

Despite the presence of signs of document forgery submitted for customs clearance, the customs officer consciously ignored the obvious risks and unjustifiably applied a reduced rate for calculating customs payments.

Such actions led to the State Budget of Ukraine losing nearly 1 million hryvnias.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Territorial Office of the State Bureau of Investigations located in Kyiv.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
