Investigation of possible waste of more than 230 million UAH for the maintenance of the Sonechko Children's House has been started

Under the procedural guidance of the Shevchenkivskyi District Prosecutor's Office of Zaporizhzhia, a pre-trial investigation has been initiated regarding the possible abuse of office by officials of one of the social institutions, which led to serious consequences (Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The basis for entering information into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations (URPTI) was a publication in the media NGL.media regarding the activities of this children's home. According to available data, despite the fact that its wards were evacuated at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the institution continued to receive significant budget funding.

In particular, over the past three years, more than 230 million UAH has been allocated from the state budget for its maintenance. These funds were directed towards staff salaries, utility payments, and other expenses; however, the actual absence of children raises doubts about the legitimacy of such expenditures.

Currently, within the framework of the criminal proceedings, priority investigative actions are being conducted to clarify all circumstances of the possible abuses and the circle of individuals involved in the illegal activities.

The pre-trial investigation is being carried out by investigators from Police Department No. 4 of the Zaporizhzhia District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Zaporizhzhia region.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
