Prosecutors of the Volyn Regional Prosecutor's Office have sent an indictment to the court against the director of one of the municipal enterprises in Lutsk, who embezzled budget funds using his official position.

The pre-trial investigation established that the official, following a conducted tender, signed a contract with a supplier for the purchase of electricity. Subsequently, the parties signed a number of additional agreements—without grounds for increasing the cost of electricity.

As a result of the implemented illegal scheme, the city overpaid for electricity by more than 2.7 million hryvnias.

The actions of the accused have been qualified under part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings was conducted by the Territorial Administration of the Bureau of Economic Security in the Volyn region.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
