Fraud of over UAH 1.1 million when purchasing non -existent components for drones - the prosecutor's office reported suspicion to four Uzhgorods

According to the investigation materials, four residents of Transcarpathia were "selling" non-existent components for drones. In this way, they defrauded over 1.1 million UAH.

The potential victims were found by the criminals on social networks, responding to requests from volunteers. They claimed to be ready to sell the necessary equipment, but after the money was transferred, they disappeared. A total of 6 victims have been identified, who were deceived out of 1.1 million UAH.

In an attempt to hide the ultimate beneficiaries, the fraudsters transferred money from account to account, and ultimately transferred it to their own accounts.

Depending on the actions committed, the residents of Uzhhorod are charged with fraud committed by a group of persons in conspiracy, repeatedly under martial law (Part 2, 3 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The issue of choosing preventive measures for them is being resolved; the prosecutor's office will petition for their detention.

The measures to expose the fraud were conducted jointly with the Cybercrime Prevention Department in the Transcarpathian region of the Cyber Police Department of the National Police of Ukraine, and the pre-trial investigation is being carried out by the investigative unit of Police Department No. 1 of the Uzhhorod District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Transcarpathian region. The procedural guidance is provided by the Uzhhorod District Prosecutor's Office.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
