Six employees of UZ are suspected of stealing diesel fuel

Law enforcement officers in Transcarpathia uncovered a scheme of systematic theft of diesel fuel from the locomotives of "Ukrzaliznytsia".
According to the investigation, six employees from the Lviv and Odesa branches of the company were siphoning fuel at a machine station, where locomotives were specifically directed.
After that, the diesel was poured into canisters and sold to local residents for cash. In October–November 2025, six such incidents were documented. During this time, the participants siphoned nearly 5,000 liters of diesel, of which more than 3,800 liters had already been sold.
The estimated value of the stolen fuel is over 300,000 hryvnias. During nine authorized searches, about 1.4 tons of diesel fuel, pumps, hoses, nearly two hundred canisters, cash, and vehicles were seized.
All six detainees have been notified of suspicion of theft committed under martial law (part 4 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The issue of choosing preventive measures for them is being resolved, and the prosecution will petition for their detention. The sanction of the article provides for punishment of 5 to 8 years of imprisonment.
Prosecutors of the Transcarpathian Regional Prosecutor's Office are coordinating the further course of the pre-trial investigation, which is being conducted by the police of the Main Department of the National Police in the Transcarpathian region. Operational support is provided by the employees of the Criminal Investigation Department in the Transcarpathian region with the assistance of the Corporate Security Department of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia".
Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
