The case against the former director of the forest farm for organizing illegal logging worth millions of hryvnias was referred to the court

Prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office have sent an indictment to the court against the former director of a state forestry enterprise. He is charged with exceeding official powers by an employee of a law enforcement agency and illegal logging, which caused severe consequences (Part 3 of Article 365, Part 4 of Article 246 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The investigation established that in 2021–2022, the official personally signed permits for logging in areas where any work was explicitly prohibited. Based on these documents, illegal logging was carried out in age-diverse and mixed plantations.

As a result of these actions, at least 4,139 trees were destroyed over an area of more than 96 hectares. Among the felled species were: pine, oak, hornbeam, alder, larch, birch, beech, cherry, aspen, and others. The damage to the state exceeds 18 million UAH.

Prosecutors ensured the inspection of the sites, the seizure of permit documents, the analysis of the grounds for issuing logging tickets, and the confirmation of their groundlessness.

It should be noted that within the framework of this criminal proceeding, prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office in July 2025 reported suspicions against four officials in the forestry sector for exceeding official powers and illegal logging that caused severe consequences (Part 3 of Article 365, Part 4 of Article 246 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, in 2020–2023, several managers and acting directors of the forestry enterprise systematically issued logging tickets without justification, which allowed for illegal logging in age-diverse and mixed forest areas.

As a result of these decisions, more than 9,500 trees were destroyed, and the preliminary damage to the environment amounts to over 42 million UAH.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the Territorial Administration of the State Bureau of Investigation located in Lviv.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
