Prosecutors from the Office of the Attorney General have sent to court a case regarding an organized group that established a large-scale illegal scheme for the sale and importation of electronic cigarettes from China to Ukraine.
According to the investigation, disposable electronic cigarettes with liquid inside were imported wholesale from the People's Republic of China. They were either completely without excise duty or had counterfeit excise stamps. The accomplices stored them in warehouses in Lviv for further sale.
During authorized searches, more than 200,000 units of the product, special equipment for counterfeiting labeling, and other physical evidence were seized.
The group included three women, who had previously been notified of suspicion by prosecutors under Part 3 of Article 199, Part 5 of Article 27, and Part 3 of Article 199 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
It is worth noting that the distribution of such products, which have not been tested in the established manner, poses serious risks to the health of citizens, as their composition and safety remain unknown.
The pre-trial investigation was conducted by detectives from the Bureau of Economic Security with operational support from the Security Service of Ukraine.
Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
