The ex-customs officer's case was brought to court

The former inspector of the Krakovets customs post is accused of receiving illegal benefits for the unhindered export of currency from Ukraine to Poland without mandatory declaration.
Prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office sent the indictment to the court.
According to the investigation, the customs officer allowed people with large amounts of cash to cross the border without proper customs clearance. For this, he received an illegal benefit.
The amount of "payment" depended on the amount of currency:
up to 50,000 US dollars - 500 US dollars;
over $50,000 – $1,000.
In February - early April of this year, three such episodes were documented. In total, USD 180,000 was allowed to cross the border without declaring.
According to the investigation, the former inspector received USD 2,500 in unlawful benefits for this.
He was detained while receiving another amount - $ 1,000 for the last border crossing with undeclared currency.
The ex-customs officer is accused under Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - receipt of an unlawful benefit by an official, committed repeatedly.
Pre-trial investigation – Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv region, operational support – SBU Office in Lviv region. The crime was exposed jointly with the internal control department of Lviv customs.
Note: according to Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
