The case of a terrorist attack in Odesa region was transferred to court: the accused will be awaited in custody

Prosecutors of the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office sent an indictment to the court against a local resident who organized an explosion in the police premises in Bilyaivka.

During the investigation, it was established that the man was recruited by a representative of the intelligence agency of the aggressor state. On the instructions of the curator, he agreed to manufacture improvised explosive devices and hand them over for terrorist attacks in the region.

For this, he purchased chemical reagents, electronics and other components, after which he collected explosives in his own apartment and prepared them for use.

On the morning of March 23 of this year, the attacker organized the transportation of an explosive device by taxi to Bilyaivka, disguised as an ordinary gift. 

Further, according to his instructions, the “gift” was given to a woman who, not knowing the contents, took the package to the premises of the district police department. 

A few minutes later, the device was remotely activated by a phone call from the territory of the russian federation.

As a result of the explosion, one person died, three more people — police officers received moderate injuries. The administrative building of the police body was partially destroyed, material damage was caused to the state in the amount of more than UAH 220,000.

The accused was charged with committing a terrorist act that led to the death of a person, illegal manufacture of explosives and devices, storage of weapons, as well as cooperation with representatives of the special services of the aggressor state (part 3 of Art 258, part 1 of Art 263, part 1 of Art 263-1, part 1 of Art 114-1, part 2 of Art. 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Currently, at the request of the prosecutor's office, the man is in custody. The pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings was carried out by the Department of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Odesa region.
