According to the investigation, the stepfather of one of the conscripts, acting together with an instructor from the military unit, attempted to bribe the commander of the company where the stepson of one of the suspects was serving.

They offered the officer a bribe of 20 thousand US dollars for assistance in the illegal transportation of the cadet outside the military unit to abandon his place of service and evade military service.

However, the company commander immediately reported the received "offer" to the higher leadership and subsequently acted under the supervision of law enforcement. During the transfer of the agreed sum of money, both men were detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. 

Under the procedural guidance of the Rivne Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Defense Sector of the Western Region, they were informed of the suspicion under part 3 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (offering an unlawful benefit to a public official). At the request of the prosecution, they were chosen preventive measures in the form of detention with the right to bail.

The sanction of the article provides for up to 8 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The pre-trial investigation is conducted by the Main Prosecutor's Office in the Rivne region, with operational support from the Department of Internal Security of the National Police and the Department of Counterintelligence of the Security Service.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
