To become a people's deputy for $160,000 - the leader of the liquidated party was notified of suspicion of fraud

Under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, the head of one of the dissolved political parties has been notified of suspicion in a completed attempt at fraud.

The actions of the suspect have been qualified under part 2 of article 15 and part 5 of article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

It has been established that a 41-year-old resident of Kyiv, who is the head of a political party whose activities have been terminated, offered to join his political project and, upon receiving a passable position on the list for parliamentary elections, to become a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. During meetings, the man distributed his business cards, which indicated that he was a candidate for the President of Ukraine.

The suspect valued a successful career as a people's deputy from his party at $160,000, of which $100,000 was an entry fee, and another $60,000, according to him, was to be used for the development of the party.

He was detained in accordance with article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine while receiving $160,000.

The suspect has been chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention with the possibility of posting bail of 6 million 725 thousand hryvnias.

Pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv with operational support from the Department of Counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine.

Note: according to article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
