The court continued the arrest of a former prosecutor's office who, in a state of intoxication, committed a deadly accident in Kiev

At the request of the prosecutors of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv extended the preventive measure for a former prosecutor, suspected of causing a fatal traffic accident that resulted in the death of a 61-year-old woman.
The suspect will remain in custody without the right to bail until October 20, 2025.
It should be noted that the senior prosecutor in this criminal proceeding is the Attorney General Ruslan Kravchenko.
The suspect, who was a civil servant at the time of the fatal traffic accident, has been dismissed from the prosecutor's office following the results of an internal investigation.
Recall that on the evening of July 19, 2025, he drove into a pedestrian zone on Velyka Vasylkivska Street and hit a woman who was walking on the sidewalk. The victim died from her injuries. After hitting the pedestrian, the driver attempted to flee the scene of the accident. The results of his examination showed 1.77 promille of alcohol in his blood, while the permissible level is 0.2 promille.
The actions of the suspect have been classified under part 3 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, namely - violation of traffic safety rules committed while in a state of alcohol intoxication, which resulted in the death of the victim.
The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of five to ten years, with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of five to ten years.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office by investigators of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv.
Note: according to part 1 of Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
