The court continued the detention of the suspect in the murder of Andrii Parubiy

At the request of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office, the court has once again extended the preventive measure of detention for a 52-year-old resident of Lviv, who is suspected of murdering Ukrainian MP Andriy Parubiy.

The suspect will continue to be held in custody without the possibility of bail.

The man is charged with committing a number of particularly serious crimes, including under Part 2 of Article 111 (treason committed in a state of war), Article 112 (attempt on the life of a Ukrainian MP in connection with his official or public activities), Part 1 of Article 263 (illegal handling of weapons), as well as Parts 1 and 3 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (glorification of individuals committing armed aggression against Ukraine and repeated justification of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation).

According to the investigation materials, on August 30 of this year, the suspect fired eight shots at the victim. The injuries sustained were fatal - the MP died at the scene. After that, the attacker hid the firearm, planning to use it again. In September, law enforcement discovered the hideout, and the results of the conducted examinations confirmed the man's involvement in the crime.

It is worth noting that on August 30, 2025, a special operation "Siren" was announced in Lviv. Under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial investigation was initiated into the intentional murder of Andriy Parubiy (Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

On September 1, 2025, the detained individual was informed of the suspicion in the murder of Ukrainian MP Andriy Parubiy. His actions were qualified under Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (intentional murder) and Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal handling of weapons).

On September 2, the Halytskyi District Court of Lviv satisfied the request of the prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office and chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for a period of 60 days without the right to bail.

On the same day, taking into account the collected evidence, the legal qualification of the criminal offense was changed to Part 1 of Article 263 (illegal handling of weapons) and Article 112 (attempt on the life of a Ukrainian MP committed in connection with his official or public activities) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

On October 24, 2025, the court satisfied the request of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office and extended the detention of the suspect without setting bail.

On December 5, 2025, the 52-year-old man was informed of an additional suspicion under Parts 1 and 3 of Article 436-2 (glorification of individuals committing armed aggression against Ukraine and repeated justification of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the SBU in the Lviv region. Operational support is provided by units of the UCR in the Lviv region of the DSR of Ukraine, the Main Department of the National Police in the Lviv region, and operational units of the SBU in the Lviv region.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
