On October 31, 2025, the head of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office approved and sent to court an indictment against a resident of the region for committing particularly serious crimes against the sexual freedom and sexual inviolability of children (parts 3, 4, 6 of Article 152, parts 2, 3, 6 of Article 153, part 2 of Article 156, part 1 of Article 301-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The accused, being a foster father in a family-type home in Kherson region, committed violence against children under his care for several years. Having a wife and two biological sons, he systematically raped a minor ward who was only 10 years old at the time of the first crime. 

In addition, during the pre-trial investigation, materials were collected indicating that the man committed lewd acts against six other minor wards and also possessed child pornography.

The man was detained in Ivano-Frankivsk region, where the family-type children's home from Kherson region relocated due to hostilities.

The accused is being held in custody, where he will await the court's verdict.

Given the severity of the crimes charged against the accused, all wards of the family-type home have been removed. Currently, the children are under the supervision of specialists and undergoing psychological rehabilitation.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kherson region.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
