Prosecutors of the Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor's Office have sent an indictment to the court regarding a former inspector of the response sector of the Chernivtsi District Police Department, who, while driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, violated traffic rules and caused a fatal traffic accident (Part 3 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

On the night of July 28, 2025, in the city of Novoselytsia, the police officer, while under the influence of alcohol behind the wheel of a "Volkswagen Tiguan," crashed into a concrete fence.

There were three passengers in the car. As a result of the collision, one of them died at the scene, while the other passengers sustained injuries of varying severity.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the territorial office of the State Bureau of Investigations.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
