Members of a criminal group that sold cars imported under the guise of aid to the Armed Forces will be tried. The seized cars were handed over to the Defense Forces

Prosecutors of the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor's Office have sent an indictment to the court regarding the participants of an organized group who, under the guise of humanitarian aid for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, imported vehicles from abroad and sold them.

According to the investigation, from June 2024 to March 2025, the accused imported vehicles worth over 1.4 million UAH into Ukraine.

The organizer of the group sought sellers of vehicles in EU countries, negotiated with them, purchased cars, and ensured their importation into Ukraine.

One of the group members, the head of a public organization, indicated in fictitious documents that the vehicles were humanitarian aid for the Armed Forces: this allowed them to be imported in a simplified manner — without paying customs duties.

However, subsequently, the vehicles were used for personal needs and later put up for sale through the online advertisement platform OLX.

In March 2025, law enforcement officers detained the offenders during another illegal sale of vehicles.

The organizer of the group is charged with smuggling excise goods, aiding in official forgery, and legalizing property obtained by criminal means, committed by an organized group in particularly large amounts (Part 2 of Article 201-4, Part 5 of Article 27, Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 366, Part 3 of Article 209 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The head of the public organization faces charges of smuggling, official forgery, and legalizing property (Part 1 of Article 366, Part 2 of Article 201-4, Part 2 of Article 209 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Other group members are charged with legalizing property obtained by criminal means (Part 3 of Article 209 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

At the initiative of the prosecutor's office, four vehicles — Renault Master, Audi S4, Volvo V90, and SAAB 9-5 — have already been transferred for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the investigative department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Cherkasy region with operational support from the Strategic Investigations Department of the National Police of Ukraine.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
