They will judge a resident of Odessa, who planned to commit a terrorist attack on the task of curator from the Russian Federation

Prosecutors of the Office of the Attorney General have sent an indictment to the court against a 22-year-old resident of Odesa region for committing treason, preparing for a terrorist act, intentionally damaging someone else's property, acquiring and storing ammunition, as well as illegally manufacturing explosives (Part 2 of Article 111, Part 1 of Article 14, Part 2 of Article 258, Part 2 of Article 194, Part 1 of Article 263, Part 2 of Article 263-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The pre-trial investigation established that the accused, for a monetary reward, assisted a representative of the Russian Federation in conducting subversive activities against Ukraine. His tasks included intentionally setting fire to infrastructure facilities to cause harm to the economic and state security of Ukraine.

Subsequently, having convinced himself of the reliability and readiness of the resident of Odesa region to carry out various tasks, the representative of the aggressor state contacted him via video link and assisted in the production of explosives for committing a terrorist act. After that, the accused assembled an improvised explosive device, which they planned to place in a location with a large gathering of people to carry out an explosion.

However, the plan could not be carried out to the end; law enforcement officers detained the resident of Odesa region in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and, during a search at his residence, discovered and seized the improvised explosive device and, among other things, ammunition, grenades, and TNT blocks.

Currently, a preventive measure in the form of detention without bail has been applied to the accused. He faces a penalty of life imprisonment.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
