Dried, stored and sold cannabis: in Rivne region law enforcement officers exposed illegal business

Under the procedural guidance of the Rivne District Prosecutor's Office, two residents of Rivne have been notified of suspicion for illegal possession of a narcotic substance in especially large quantities and its sale (Part 2, Part 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The investigation has established that in an abandoned house in one of the villages of the Rivne district, the suspects set up a drying workshop. Raw cannabis plants were dried in the attic, then packaged and sold directly to their trusted clients.

Law enforcement conducted a series of authorized searches in the house, in the vehicle used by the suspects, as well as in the homes of other individuals who may be involved in the illegal business. During the investigative actions, about 200 kg of cannabis was seized, with a value on the "black market" exceeding 7.5 million UAH.

In addition, the men had their mobile phones and a Renault minibus seized, which they used in their criminal activities. They were detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

The issue of choosing a preventive measure in the form of detention for the suspects is being resolved, the circle of other involved persons is being established, and necessary expert examinations have been appointed.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Rivne District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the region, with operational support from the Department of Combating Organized Crime of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Rivne region.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
