The witness in the case of aiding the aggressor state was informed of the suspicion of knowingly false testimony

A man has been notified of suspicion for providing knowingly false testimony to the pre-trial investigation body and the court (Part 1 of Article 384 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, the suspect, who was interrogated as a witness in a criminal proceeding for aiding the aggressor state and abuse of influence, intentionally provided false information aimed at misleading the investigation and the court.

Despite being warned twice about criminal liability for false testimony — during interrogations by the pre-trial investigation body and during a court session in the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv — he reported false circumstances regarding the content and context of his conversation with the suspect in aiding the aggressor state and abuse of influence.

Thus, by his actions, he intentionally misled the pre-trial investigation body and the court, attempting to help a familiar suspect evade criminal liability.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the investigators of the State Bureau of Investigations with operational support from the Security Service of Ukraine.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
