Prosecutors of the Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor's Office, together with law enforcement colleagues, uncovered storage and auxiliary premises in a border village of the Chernivtsi region that effectively served as a hideout for the illegal production and storage of goods for the purpose of sale.

As a result of the searches, packages of cigarettes from well-known brands without excise tax stamps, shredded fermented tobacco, cigarette tubes, and about a box for packaging were seized.

The estimated value of the counterfeit products is about 7 million UAH.

Within the framework of the criminal proceedings registered under Part 1 of Article 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, individuals involved in the crime are being identified.

The seized property has been placed under arrest. The cigarettes have been sent for examination.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by detectives of the Territorial Department of the Bureau of Economic Security in the Chernivtsi region with operational support from the Security Service of Ukraine in the Chernivtsi region and the 31st Border Detachment.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
